2008 ISFA Call for Papers
Scope and Topics
This symposium was initiated in 1986 and the title “Flexible Automation” was selected as a general term referring to automation technologies essential to meet the increasing requirements of modern manufacturing. While many of these requirements were identified over a decade ago, such as flexibility, intelligence, leadtime reduction, and lean manufacturing, they still pose major challenges. In addition, requirements such as agility, reconfigurability, networked CAD/CAM, 3D-CAD, CE, Rapid prototyping, ERP, PDM, SCM,CellProduction, e-manufacturing, intelligent automation, RFID, health monitoring, security, sensor and actuator technologies, MEMS, haptics, mechatronics, automobile systems and the protection of the environment, have broadened the research agenda and thus the scope of this symposium. We also recognize that these requirements are not unique to manufacturing automation but are shared by other automation fields such as automotive and house hold electric IT, biotechnology, aerospace, and transportation systems. The purpose of this tenth biennial symposium is to promote international research activities in various areas of flexible automation by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas.
Paper Submission
All papers should be written in English. Both long and short papers
will be considered. A long paper is 6 to 8 pages and a short paper as
less than 4 pages (about 1000 words per page). Long papers are
reviewed as full manuscripts including abstract (about 150 words) and
keywords. Short papers are screened by a 600-1000 word summary with
keywords.
The manuscripts and summaries should include: title of the
paper; name(s) and affiliations(s) of author(s); mail address and
e-mail address of the contact person. If you are submitting a paper to an
Organized Session, then please indicate the name of the session in the Subject
line of the email. For an example of the required
